Read all about this year's successful tournament!WICAC’S Autumn Golf Classic 3rd annual fundraiser tournament was held for the 3rd straight year under blue skies on the North course of Elm Ridge Country Club. Seventy golfers awaited with great anticipation the noon shotgun start and volunteers in the Beer Tent, near the BBQ pit, served a steady stream of thirsty golfers. Other food and snack stations were also busy and were all manned by our outstanding cast of volunteers.
Silent Auction bidding again proved to be a popular pastime during cocktails. The 5050 draw organized by Teresa Irving whose goal was to sell every ticket was an outstanding success. The Sutton group had lots of fun buying the most tickets, and we are very grateful to them. Elmridge yet again provided an incredible brunch and dinner with service second to none. Prizes for the winners were exceptional as well as the many door prizes which managed to put smiles on everyone’s faces.
Carol Jonas and Jane Lumsden provided everyone with touching stories of the reality of what life is like for those touched by cancer, and both stressed that we can all contribute and make a difference to those families in need.
The 2008 WICAC Autumn Golf Classic again succeeded in raising more funds for cancer victims and their families and none of these goals can be achieved without the continuing support of each and everyone of you. Equally important is that the West Island Crusade Against Cancer reinforced its commitment as a grass roots charity organization which proudly stands behind this event. We look forward to seeing you all again next year!
